Sustainability

Argopecten purpuratus, the Peruvian scallop, is not currently evaluated on the IUCN Red List, meaning it has no official conservation status. However, it is generally regarded as a sustainable seafood option, with much of the supply coming from well-managed, hatchery-based aquaculture systems that reduce pressure on wild populations and limit environmental impact.
